Cognos Training
To ensure a smooth start and effective utilization of the Cognos system, we mandate a foundational training session in Student Records or Budget Center for all new users. You can find a brief description of each training session below. If you are unable to attend one of the scheduled sessions, 1-on-1 training may also be requested by emailing eda@IllinoisState.edu. We're here to accommodate your learning preferences and ensure you have the necessary tools for success!
To gain access to Cognos, please complete the following steps:
- Sign-up for the Zoom training for Student Records or Budget Center below.
- Before attending the Student Records Zoom training, complete the self-paced, online training: https://sso.comevo.com/ilstu/launch/3998
- Attend the Zoom training for either Student Records or Budget Center.
Student Records Training

This interactive, instructor-led Zoom course provides a comprehensive overview of Cognos and the Student Records package, including an exploration of the Student Records data available. We'll guide you through the nuances of navigating Cognos, interpreting the extensive information in its reports, and making the most of its dashboard functionalities.
Attending this training is required for access to the Student Records package.

Budget Center Training
This interactive, instructor-led Zoom course provides a comprehensive overview of the Budget Center. This session is designed to enhance your proficiency in the following key areas: exploring the Fiscal tab of My Illinois State, utilizing the Transfer Center application, and developing a fundamental understanding of Cognos. We'll guide you through the nuances of navigating Cognos, interpreting the extensive information in its reports, and making the most of its dashboard functionalities.
Attending this training is required for access to the Budget Center.
