Enterprise datasets will be developed to provide users with a predefined and easily accessible data source without having to connect to various databases and model data in Power BI.
For Workspace Owners to get a Power BI app published, follow the steps below. Upon accessing an app, users will be required to login to Power BI with their ISU credentials. The request will need to go through an Administrator to perform the actual publish as most creators will not have permissions to publish content.
For a Workspace Owner to get Power BI content published to the web in a secured manner, follow the steps below. The key output of this process will be a “Secure Embed” URL. In this case, upon accessing a link to the Power BI content, users will be required to login to Power BI with their ISU credentials. The request will need to go through an Administrator to perform the URL generation, as most creators will not have permissions to do so.
For a Workspace Owner to get Power BI content published to the web in an unsecured manner that is accessible by the general public, follow the steps below. The key output of this process will be a “Publish to Web” URL. In this case, upon accessing a link to the Power BI content, users will NOT be required to login to Power BI. Therefore, anyone with access to the URL will be able to view the content. Given this fact, additional security review should be completed before the URL is generated. The request will need to go through an Administrator to perform the URL generation, as most creators will not have permissions to so.
To share Power BI content with additional users, follow the steps below. Based upon your role in a workspace, you may not have the capability to share items, such as reports and apps with users. If you do not, you will need to request that a Power BI Admin share the content with the desired users.
